George Washington's View on Incarceration

With our inaugural President’s actual birthday a few days away, here is something to reflect on this Presidents’ Day. When it was said, he spoke particularly to and of the understanding of only white males as representative citizens protected by law. Black and brown people and women were not really included. Today, that definition of a citizen is more inclusion so what does this statement mean for us today when our nation boasts the highest incarceration rates in the world?

We might think about this in our strides toward better and increased restorative justice practices.

Happy Presidents’ Day from Made in Brownsville.
