What We Do

Made in Brownsville is a youth creative agency and innovation hub providing a gateway for young people to learn marketable hard skills in STEAM, access postsecondary education, achieve economic mobility, and engage in placed-based community revitalization.

How We Do It

Modeled as a creative service agency, our projects teach design thinking, art, multimedia, tech and communication skills to give young people the technical and leadership tools they need to compete in the innovation economy to be leaders in their community. MiB offers studios and mentorship in 3D design, printmaking, painting, 3D modeling and fabrication, photography, coding/WDD/robotics, graphic design, video and animation. Design mentors collaborate with youth on projects that impact the vitality of the community as well as client commissioned creative projects.

Our Team

Quardean Lewis-Allen

Founder and CEO

Quardean Lewis-Allen, a life-long Brownsville resident, earned a B.S in Architecture from SUNY at Buffalo and a Master of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He works to create pathways to success for youth; opportunities that didn’t exist when he was growing up. He enjoys impersonating Stewie and encouraging people to live their best possible lives.

Albert Kakudji

Chief Operating Officer

Albert Nkulu Kakudji, Brownsville born and raised, earned his Bachelors in Business Administration, with a specialization in Marketing from Berkeley College. He started his career in investment management, before venturing into roles at venture backed start-ups, and started his own fine arts services company.  For the past 15 years, he has also supported organizations which serve underserved youth and aims to dedicate his life to playing a role in closing the black youth achievement gap. He enjoys multi-national cheese plates and the joys of being a father.

Willie Minter

Junior Graphic Designer

Willie Minter is a life-long Brownsville resident, budding graphic artist, graduate of Graphic Communication Arts High School and alum of MiB’s apparel and product design studio and photography studio. He has worked as a teaching assistant in subsequent studios training young people in Adobe Suite software. He enjoys hitting the old dusty trail.

Jacqueline Martinez

Creative Mentor

Jackie is a freelance designer and illustrator from Brownsville. She’s gained a Bachelors in Advertising Design from New York City College of Technology. She’s currently working on social media marketing and brand consulting, and has worked with MiB to bring digital and print brands to life for city agencies and local clients. As a creative mentor, Jackie assists youth in graphic design via Photoshop. On her off time, she’s a bit of a comic book nerd and someday hopes to create her own.
