The Success Manager drives alumni job retention success within our community.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide participants with the tools to land a job of choice and coaching them on core job search skills including interviewing, portfolio buildout, resume preparation, negotiation, networking best practices and career planning
  • Prepare participants on the job market and industry trends
  • Serve as a resource for interview prep and job placement
  • Work with participants and alumni to help them leverage their existing networks
  • Ensure proper communication via Slack and email on ongoing opportunities and networking events

Position Overview

This position will provide direct support to the Chief Operating Officer by performing routine clerical and administrative functions such as answering telephones, creating and maintaining departmental folders, data entry, and other administrative duties.

In order to be successful, a candidate for this position must demonstrate strong client service and organizational skills. They must be a self-starter who is flexible and has the capability to work independently and as a part of a team. Position Overview

We are looking for a dynamic leader to oversee our workforce development program while bolstering our portfolio and processes. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO, the Creative Director is responsible for supervising a growing team of designers and project coordinators. This role requires a diverse set of creative skills, extensive industry experience, and access to a solid network of professionals that can pitch in and mentor on larger projects.

Position Overview

The Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for supporting creative design efforts and distributing the finished assets within the business. This role reports to Senior Designers and/or the Creative Director.

The ideal candidate will be a highly creative, diligent and ambitious Junior Graphic Designer. They must be comfortable working both independently and in team settings. Under the guidance and direction of the Creative Team, the Junior Graphic Designer is responsible for producing print & digital assets for MiB, our clients, and our community; ensuring all materials are on-brand and executed with precision.

 

Responsibilities

  • Simultaneously work on multiple projects based on workload
  • Deliver digital communications projects, including marketing materials, websites and other media
  • Research current creative trends, then develop and concept new and innovative design ideas
  • Thoughtfully incorporate creative elements like fonts, icons, images, videos, etc. into design projects
  • Create cohesive designs that reflect our clients’ corporate cultures and go
  • Maintain and update MiB creative assets, including marketing materials, websites, and social media platforms and MiB website

This role oversees the creative workflow of each project, manages expectations for both clients and team members, and resolves obstacles. This role will also include creative administration which includes: managing schedules, filing reports, answering phones, data entry, and general office management.

The ideal candidate must be strong at managing multiple projects with varying timelines and have outstanding service and organizational skills. They must be comfortable communicating clearly and effectivelyboth verbally and writtento experienced and novice creative professionals, as well as clients unfamiliar with the common creative terminology. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in creative/design services.

Position Overview

The Program Manager will be responsible for leading the non-technical components of the apprenticeship programs.  This role will be responsible for ensuring that all participants graduate from all programs having attained the professional skills and fluency with the tech/design industry required for success.  

 

In addition, the Program Manager will help establish the appropriate policies for excellence, MiB culture, and community building.  It is essential that there is established success with holistic program/curriculum design, people management, and a comprehension of data-driven impact is essential for this position. It is also important to have prior knowledge of the tech/design ecosystem and how we can position our participants to excel in these industries.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage, recruit, hire and onboard a team of facilitators and mentors, prior to program launch, and create professional development opportunities
  • In partnership with placements team, evaluate, validate, and design curricular components, experiences, and policies to drive program goals around professional skills, graphic design/web development, civic leadership, community development
  • Coordinate all logistical planning for site events and trips with institutional partners
  • Organize student recruitment activities
  • Respond to inquiries from participants and others regarding program offerings and registration procedures
  • Deliver best in class operational excellence to the Made in Brownsville participants
  • Monitor public workshop sessions. Review the performance of instructors and provide suggestions, and assistance for improvement, as needed
  • Engage with community stakeholders, schools, youth and institutional partners, and other external stakeholders to build an employment pipeline and high-quality workforce; collaborate with the success managers on outreach and partnerships

 

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of demonstrated success in a fast-paced program operational role
  • Experience working with creatives and familiarity with the tech industry
  • Excellent people management experience and high emotional intelligence

Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, organized and detail-oriented visual/graphic designer, or graphic artist to develop a comprehensive curriculum that teaches the fundamentals of communication design and Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).

Ideal candidates will be a dynamic visual storytellers that are capable of training, instructing, and inspiring young creative minds, ages 16 to 24, that have historically been underrepresented. You must have at least 5 years of creative experience, and a minimum of 1 year either teaching or training.

Our training programs combine both instructional and hands-on studio time in our state-of-the-art computer lab, with access to industry standard equipment. Participants should complete class with a functional understanding of graphic design, and a creative portfolio consisting of student work and a capstone project developed under candidate’s mentorship.

Applicants must be available to begin teaching on October 1st thru December 21st with a 10- to 12-hour per week commitment. Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, organized and detail-oriented filmmaker, or team, to develop a comprehensive curriculum including the basics of pre-production, production, and post-production with an emphasis on directing, shooting, producing and editing. Participants will explore the basics of storytelling and the language of cinema with an emphasis on short-form digital video production.

Ideal candidates will be a dynamic visual storytellers that are capable of training, instructing, and inspiring young creative minds with at least 5 years of combined experience, and a minimum of 1 year either teaching/training or creating video content.

Our training programs combine both instructional and hands-on studio time in our state-of-the-art computer lab, with access to industry standard equipment. Participants should complete class with a deep understanding of storytelling and video production process and successfully leave with a completed video capstone project produced under candidate’s mentorship.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a transdisciplinary designer that will work with the Chief Executive Officer and the creative team to outfit and support a new makerspace facility in Brownsville. This person will provide technical and logistical support for training youth, provide project support for coworking members as well as project manage clients 3D design services, ensuring projects are completed skillfully. This role will also include teaching participants directly and some creative administration which includes: managing schedules, implementing safety procedures, filing reports, answering phones, data entry, and general makerspace management.

The ideal candidate must be strong transdisciplinary background in 3D modeling and fabrication, furniture, spatial and/or urban design through a participatory design lens. They must also excel at managing multiple projects with varying timelines and have outstanding service and organizational skills. They must be comfortable communicating clearly and effectivelyboth verbally and writtento experienced and novice creative professionals, as well as clients unfamiliar with common creative terminology. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in engineering/manufacturing/design services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement MiB’s STEAM project based curriculum with cohorts of youth throughout the year.
  • Ongoing assessment of training needs through participant surveys, interviews, focus groups, or consultation with managers, or participant representatives.
  • Organize and direct orientation of training programs for participants.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for effectiveness; Evaluate modes of training delivery,
  • Keep track of suggested curriculum revisions to the training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials for ongoing quality assurance – Report suggestions to Senior Leadership.
  • Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
  • Manage creative projects during youths apprenticeship
  • Escort students on worksite visits and special trips when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning of special events for youth participants.

  • Experience safely running and managing a makerspace/fabrication lab.
  • Proficiency with rapid prototyping fabrication tools such as CNC mills, laser cutters and 3D printers, etc; CAD/CAM software; and metal/woodshop equipment.
