Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, organized and detail-oriented filmmaker, or team, to develop a comprehensive curriculum including the basics of pre-production, production, and post-production with an emphasis on directing, shooting, producing and editing. Participants will explore the basics of storytelling and the language of cinema with an emphasis on short-form digital video production.

 

Ideal candidates will be a dynamic visual storytellers that are capable of training, instructing, and inspiring young creative minds with at least 5 years of combined experience, and a minimum of 1 year either teaching/training or creating video content.

 

Our training programs combine both instructional and hands-on studio time in our state-of-the-art computer lab, with access to industry standard equipment. Participants should complete class with a deep understanding of storytelling and video production process and successfully leave with a completed video capstone project produced under candidate’s mentorship.

 

Applicants must be available to begin teaching on April 2nd with a 10-hour per week commitment. This is a project-based opportunity with the student videos and curriculum template as deliverables. Qualifications

  • At least 6 months experience working in an agency environment.
  • Demonstrated success in project management, coordination, and communication.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling platforms (Asana, Homebase, etc).
  • Proficiency with digital devices using both Apple OS, Microsoft, and Google Suites.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud suite preferred.
  • Creative, proactive, collaborative and strategic thinking.
  • Passion for encouraging and working with creative youth.

We are currently looking for an incredibly organized, self-motivated and creative individual to provide direct support to the Creative Director by managing the day-to-day creative team operations by ensuring projects are on-schedule. This role oversees the creative workflow of each project, manages expectations for both clients and team members, and resolves obstacles. This role will also include creative administration which includes: managing schedules, filing reports, answering phones, data entry, and general office management.

The ideal candidate must be strong at managing multiple projects with varying timelines and have outstanding service and organizational skills. They must be comfortable communicating clearly and effectivelyboth verbally and writtento experienced and novice creative professionals, as well as clients unfamiliar with common creative terminology. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in creative/design services.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a transdisciplinary designer that will work with the Chief Executive Officer and the creative team to outfit and support a new makerspace facility in Brownsville. This person will provide technical and logistical support for training youth, provide project support for coworking members as well as project manage clients 3D design services, ensuring projects are completed skillfully. This role will also include teaching participants directly and some creative administration which includes: managing schedules, implementing safety procedures, filing reports, answering phones, data entry, and general makerspace management.

The ideal candidate must be strong transdisciplinary background in 3D modeling and fabrication, furniture, spatial and/or urban design through a participatory design lens. They must also excel at managing multiple projects with varying timelines and have outstanding service and organizational skills. They must be comfortable communicating clearly and effectivelyboth verbally and writtento experienced and novice creative professionals, as well as clients unfamiliar with common creative terminology. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in engineering/manufacturing/design services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement MiB’s STEAM project based curriculum with cohorts of youth throughout the year.
  • Ongoing assessment of training needs through participant surveys, interviews, focus groups, or consultation with managers, or participant representatives.
  • Organize and direct orientation of training programs for participants.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for effectiveness; Evaluate modes of training delivery,
  • Keep track of suggested curriculum revisions to the training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials for ongoing quality assurance – Report suggestions to Senior Leadership.
  • Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
  • Manage creative projects during youths apprenticeship
  • Escort students on worksite visits and special trips when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning of special events for youth participants.
  • Configure standard and special units in Solid Works/AutoCad.
  • Write CNC Programs for products using CAM software.
  • Has demonstrated capability to perform multiple assignments under team leadership
  • Perform project management responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Provide guidance to team members on technical problems
  • Uses Drafting standards to complete Solid Works/Auto Cad drawings
  • Uses Furniture Design Standards
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Must be willing to work overtime during busy season

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience working with youth, particularly high risk youth.
  • Degree or certification in mechanical engineering, architecture, design, industrial design, urban design, urban planning or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience safely running and managing a makerspace/fabrication lab.
